UNFFE partners with universities and organisations to spearhead digitalised farming.

The Uganda National Farmers Federation(UNFFE) is spearheading the farmer-led digitalization system to enhance the uptake of technology in farming.

In an interview with New Vision , Dr. Dick Kamuganga the President of UNFFE stated that “Soon in your villages, you will be seeing digital advisors, these are people who will be using the devices of ubiquitous to train fellow farmers on how to take advantage of the advancement in technology”. He went further and said that we have had an ascendance of robotics in farming, but we still need to use our small smartphones to access inputs, markets, financing and all other sources of information on a single platform which will be housed at the farmer’s federation.

In partnership with Ministry of Agriculture, Makerere University, Eight Tech Consults Limited and Zonal Agricultural Research Institution, we are ensuring that only the technology is adopted but also feedback is obtained from the farmers.

The ICT4Farmers system was mainly developed for farmers to enhance their decision making skills, manage farm and production records, view available markets and also enable farmers share resources amongst themselves.
