Dr. Kamuganga is the President of Uganda Farmers Federation and holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Agricultural Development and International Economics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva Switzerland. He also holds Msc. Agriculture Economics and Bsc. Agriculture Economics from Makerere University Kampala.
His passion and determination is to build a winning team at the Federation in the next decade which can transform the Smallholder farmer into a self-sufficient economic entity, capable of running his/her farm enterprise as a profitable business, capable of integrating in the national, regional and international global markets agricultural value chains. He believes that the subsistence proportion about 70 percent of Ugandan farmers can be reduced to a single digit percentage or eliminated in the country.
He stresses that the “Transformation Agenda” will aim at ensuring that every household member of Uganda National Farmers Federation be empowered to participate in an occupation of farming that helps them to create household wealth. This also aims at making the smallholder farm households to be vehicles of economic transformation in Uganda and an example for economic transformation in Africa.
